Shapiro Metals started in 1904 with Bruce’s grandfather, who worked as a “junk peddler.” His father’s generation built a scrap business from those humble origins. Bruce Shapiro has expanded the business further with a focus on recycling and sustainability.

Shapiro will talk about the lessons he has learned along the way about what it takes to move a business forward. He’ll also talk about some of the important issues facing the metals industry – whether that’s tariffs, AI, or the politics of rare earths.
