Vendanta takes Metal Bazaar global

Vendanta said the platform provides online self-registration and digital contract management for international customers. It also incorporates export transactions into the same digital system. Buyers can also book prices with live London Metal Exchange-linked hedging.

The catalog includes billet in 1XXX, 3XXX and 6XXX series alloys, in diameters from 5 to 12 inches. It also lists cast bar, flip coil, hot metal and slab.

Primary aluminum products include P1020 sow and higher-purity ingot, including P0610. The catalog also includes primary foundry alloys such as strontium-modified A356.2 and AlSi3.

Downstream products include rolled coil, plate and sheet. Vendanta also lists electrical conductor (EC) wire rod in standard-grade 1350 alloy and 8176-grade wire rod.

The company plans to add live shipment tracking from dispatch through port delivery. Planned features also include online access to export documents.

Customers can view live ledger balances and invoices through the platform. Vendanta Metal Bazaar also incorporates test certificates, bank guarantees and letters of credit into its documentation system.

US imports from India center on unwrought metal, wire

The international launch also gives US buyers another purchasing channel for product groups already shipped from India.

Unwrought aluminum accounted for about 54% of US aluminum imports from India during the 12 months through July 2026. US Commerce Department data showed 157,452 metric tons of unwrought imports from India during the period. Unalloyed material accounted for 124,830 metric tons of the total.

Higher-purity material made up a majority of those shipments. About 76,051 metric tons, or 61% of India’s non-alloyed unwrought aluminum shipments to the US, contained at least 99.8% aluminum. India accounted for about 14% of the 542,060 metric tons of US imports within those higher-purity classifications during the period.

Wire and related products accounted for another roughly 28% of US aluminum imports from India. India supplied about 15% of US aluminum wire imports during the period, excluding stranded and electrically insulated products.

India also supplied roughly 34% of US imports of non-insulated stranded wire, cables, plaited bands and similar products. Major categories included non-alloyed aluminum wire exceeding 7 millimeters in maximum cross-section dimension and aluminum conductor products with steel cores.

Vendanta Metal Bazaar previously operated the platform for customers in India. During fiscal 2026, Metal Bazaar processed nearly $4.1 billion in transactions and fulfilled more than 23,000 orders, according to the company.
