Edward Meir’s week in review and thoughts for the week of Oct. 12, 2026

    Written by Edward Meir

The week ahead will likely bring heightened volatility to the markets, courtesy of the troubled Middle East region. Over the weekend, there was yet another set of rocket attacks by the Houthis on the Riyadh international airport in Saudi Arabia, this one much more serious than the previous two strikes. At least 13 people were killed (including one American) and more than 300 wounded.

Reuters reports that hospitals are flooded with wounded in an attack that occurred without warning. Operations at the Riyadh airport are currently suspended. Given the seriousness of the attack on a key American ally, it is possible that President Trump might consider applying US military resources more forcefully. He has been reluctant to do so in the past.
