Alcoa Corp. is moving forward with the sale of parts of its Massena East site in New York to a data center company.
The sale is part of a larger plan by the Pittsburgh-based aluminum producer to sell 10 of its closed or curtailed sites to the data center industry. The move is part of a target to generate $500 million to $1 billion from select asset sales by 2030.
The shipment was part of an offtake agreement between private investment group Heeney Capital, Mercuria Energy Group and the Venezuelan government.
Rio Tinto maintained third quarter aluminum production as its Arvida smelter transition continued, while the company delayed two capacity projects at the Quebec complex.
US aluminum scrap imports increased faster than exports through August, while similar tonnage gains kept net exports near year earlier levels.
Indonesian unwrought aluminum exports increased sharply in August, with the US and South Korea accounting for a growing share of shipments.
