US gets first aluminum shipment from Venezuela in years
Written by Stephanie Ritenbaugh
Last week, the US received the first shipment of primary aluminum from Venezuela in eight years.
The 15,000-ton shipment arrived at the Port of Avondale in New Orleans. The shipment was part of an offtake agreement between private investment group Heeney Capital, Mercuria Energy Group, and the Venezuelan government — and followed the Trump administration’s capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
