RevoCast billet production adds Canadian capacity

RevoCast billet production has started at a new aluminum remelting facility in Langley, British Columbia, adding secondary billet capacity in western North America.
The company lists annual production capacity of more than 80,000 tonnes, or 176.4 million pounds. RevoCast said it will serve extrusion customers in Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest.
Secondary billet capacity comes online
The aluminum remelting facility gives the region another source of secondary billet as extrusion producers manage their sourcing requirements. The company said Aug. 1 marked its first successful billet cast. In a Sept. 9 LinkedIn post, RevoCast said the plant was fully operational and production was underway.
RevoCast produces 6XXX-series aluminum billet in 7-inch and 8-inch diameters. Its website lists a maximum saleable billet length of 7.3 meters, or 288 inches.
The company has not publicly detailed the scrap grades used at the plant or the share of recycled metal in its melt mix.
RevoCast did not respond to AMU requests for additional information before publication.
Apex Aluminum Extrusions sits next door
RevoCast’s location also places its new billet capacity beside an existing aluminum extrusion operation.
Apex Aluminum Extrusions operates adjacent to RevoCast in Langley. Vitrium Glass Group also operates at the industrial site.
The businesses also share executive leadership. Thomas Martini identifies himself on LinkedIn as president and CEO of RevoCast, Apex Aluminum Extrusions and Vitrium Glass Group and Lorval Capital Management.
Martini’s Lorval profile lists RevoCast, Apex and Vitrium among the companies represented by Lorval. Lorval’s website also includes RevoCast in its profile.
RevoCast has not disclosed how much of its billet Apex could consume or how much production will be available to other extrusion customers.
Western Canada adds billet capacity
RevoCast adds secondary billet capacity at the western end of a Canadian market where other producers operate much farther east.
Matalco operates a 250-million-pound annual-capacity plant in Brampton, Ontario. The facility also produces 6XXX-series billet as well, including the 7- and 8-inch diameters offered by RevoCast.
Shawinigan Aluminium also produces billet in Québec. Its products range spans 1XXX through 7XXX-series alloys, with diameters from 2.95 to 10 inches.
RevoCast instead places more than 80,000 tonnes of annual capacity in British Columbia.
The production startup comes amid new barriers to aluminum trade between Canada and the US.
Canada imposed counter-tariffs Sept. 8 after trade negotiations with the US broke down. The measures cover C$27.6 billion of US goods and include unwrought aluminum alloys at a rate of 50%.
RevoCast cast its first billet before the measures took effect. Still, the new operation gives Western Canadian extruders another regional source of 6XXX-series billet as tariffs affect cross-border aluminum trade.
