Tariffs rose Tuesday on aluminum and aluminum products imported from the US into Canada — the latest countermove in an increasingly vitriolic relationship between the US and its once-closest ally.
And Jean Simard, president and CEO of the Aluminium Association of Canada, said that relationship won’t heal overnight.
US aluminum scrap imports increased faster than exports through August, while similar tonnage gains kept net exports near year earlier levels.
Indonesian unwrought aluminum exports increased sharply in August, with the US and South Korea accounting for a growing share of shipments.
EGA will route up to 250,000 metric tons of aluminum through the UAE’s east coast in the first year of a new agreement with Gulftainer.
Rio Tinto will exclusively market billet from RevoCast’s new British Columbia plant under a long-term agreement combining primary and recycled aluminum.
The USITC found Chinese van-type trailer imports materially injured the US industry, clearing the way for AD/CVD orders as separate Canada and Mexico cases continue.
