Kibar Americas said production has started at its aluminum plant in Fairmont, W.Va., where it will manufacture products for the HVAC, packaging, automotive and industrial sectors.

The Chicago-based company acquired the rolling mill earlier this year from Novelis, roughly nine months after the plant was idled.

“The Fairmont investment is a cornerstone of Kibar Americas’ long-term growth strategy in North America,” Atilla Çetinel, COO of Kibar Americas, said in a statement. “With this facility, we are complementing our established commercial and distribution presence with local manufacturing capabilities, bringing us closer to our customers and strengthening our ability to respond to their needs.”

Kibar Americas is the US subsidiary of Turkey-based Assan Alüminyum. Assan is one of Europe’s largest foil producers and has positioned itself across foil, coated products and specialty flat-rolled segments.

“The Fairmont investment is an important part of Assan Alüminyum Group’s strategy to diversify its manufacturing footprint and build capabilities closer to customers in key markets,” Göksal Güngör, managing director of Assan Alüminyum Group, said.

“By combining our strong production, R&D, and sustainability capabilities in Europe with Kibar Americas’ manufacturing presence in North America, we are strengthening our global platform and creating a more balanced and resilient foundation for future growth,” Güngör added.
